Day-of Content Capture

v1.0 β€” 2026
πŸ“‹ Read This First β€” 5 Rules Before You Start β–Ό
πŸ“±
Always shoot vertical
Hold your phone upright (tall, not sideways) for everything β€” photos and videos. Instagram is vertical. Sideways video can't be used.
πŸ‘†
Tap to focus first
Before you shoot, tap the person's face on your screen. This sharpens them and fixes the brightness automatically. Don't skip this.
🚢
Walk closer β€” don't zoom
Pinch-zooming makes photos blurry and grainy. Take two steps toward your subject instead. Your feet are your zoom lens.
πŸ“Έ
Take more than you think you need
People blink. Lighting is weird. Take 3–5 shots of everything important. Storage is cheap. Missing the moment is not.

Google Drive Upload Folder
Click the button below to automatically create a new folder in the UA Events Drive for this event. Share the link with the DIME team after.
Folder will be named automatically using the event name and date you entered above. Fill those in first.
🏷️ Instagram Handles to Tag
Collect as many as you can throughout the event. More tags = more reach. Ask people directly β€” most are happy to share.
01 Before You Arrive β€” Do this at home
0/3 β–Ό
To-DoCharge your phone to 100% and bring a charger or battery pack
You'll be shooting photos and video for hours. A dead phone means missed content. This is non-negotiable.
To-DoMake sure you have at least 5GB of free storage on your phone
Go to Settings β†’ General β†’ Storage (iPhone) or Settings β†’ Storage (Android). Delete old apps or photos if you're running low. Videos eat storage fast.
To-DoLook up the event host's Instagram handle and follow their account before you go
Ask a teammate or check the event calendar. Write it in the handles section above. DIME needs it to tag them when posting. Follow them now β€” you can't tag someone you don't follow during live posting.
02 When You First Arrive β€” First 10 minutes
0/4 β–Ό
πŸ“· PhotoTake a wide photo of the whole space before it fills up with people
Step back and shoot the full space β€” chairs set up, tables ready, banners hanging, or just the outdoor area if it's an outside event. This is the opening image that sets the scene. Get it while the space is still clean and empty.
πŸ“· PhotoGet a clear photo of any UA banner, sign, or logo β€” nothing blocking it, not blurry
Find signage with the UA or event name and take a clean close-up. Good light, no people in front of it. DIME uses these for branding overlays in posts and Stories.
πŸ“· PhotoTake 3–4 close-up detail shots: name tags, jerseys, printed programs, decorations, table setups
Think: what makes this event look special? These small detail shots make the final Instagram content feel polished and professional β€” even if they seem boring to shoot.
πŸŽ₯ VideoRecord a slow 15-second walk through the space as people start arriving
Hold your phone upright and walk slowly. Don't talk. Try not to bounce as you walk β€” hold it steady with both hands. This kind of "arriving energy" clip is perfect for the opening of a Reel or Story.
03 Capturing People β€” Throughout the event
0/6 β–Ό
The Host
πŸ“· PhotoA posed photo of the host looking at the camera and smiling
Just ask them to pause for 5 seconds. Get close β€” their face should fill most of the frame. Tap their face on your screen before shooting. Take 3–4 shots so you have options in case someone blinks.
πŸ“· PhotoCandid photos of the host in conversation, laughing, or doing something at the event
Don't interrupt or stage it β€” just observe and shoot when they're naturally engaged with someone. These "real" unposed moments consistently outperform stiff posed photos on Instagram.
Patients, Families & Attendees
πŸ“· PhotoCandid shots of attendees smiling, talking, or engaged β€” natural and happy
Don't interrupt or stage anything β€” just shoot when people are naturally engaged and smiling.
πŸ“· PhotoA photo of the host and a patient or family member together β€” talking, side by side, shaking hands
This is the single most important type of photo at any UA event. It shows the mission in one image. Be patient and wait for a natural moment β€” don't stage it or interrupt them to pose.
Quick Video Interviews
πŸŽ₯ VideoAsk the host one simple question on camera β€” aim for 30 to 60 seconds
Good questions: "What does today mean to you?" or "Why do you keep coming back to events like this?" Phone vertical, get close, let them talk without interrupting. Don't worry about making it perfect β€” authentic beats polished every time.
πŸŽ₯ VideoIf a patient or family member naturally wants to share their story, ask if you can record it
Never pressure anyone. But if someone is already opening up, it's perfectly fine to say "Would you mind if I recorded that for a second?" These are the most powerful videos UA has β€” don't miss one if it happens.
πŸŽ₯ Video⭐ If any attendee is willing β€” get them on camera sharing what this event or Uplifting Athletes means to them
This is gold. It doesn't have to be a patient β€” it can be a parent, a volunteer, a sponsor, a student, anyone. Just ask: "Would you be up for saying on camera what today means to you?" Most people say yes when asked sincerely. Keep it natural β€” 20 to 45 seconds is perfect. These testimonial clips are some of the most shareable content UA has.
04 The Big Moment β€” Don't miss these
0/4 β–Ό
πŸ“·πŸŽ₯ BothCapture the main event moment β€” the lift, the ceremony, the award, the draft pick, whatever it is
Take a burst of photos first (hold down the shutter button on your camera app), then switch to video for a 15–30 second clip. You want both. If you can only do one: get the photo.
πŸ“· PhotoTurn the camera toward the crowd during the big moment and capture people's reactions
While everyone else is watching the stage, spin around and shoot the audience instead. Clapping, tears, laughter β€” these reaction shots make video content electric. Most people forget to do this. Don't be most people.
πŸ“· PhotoIf someone receives a jersey, award, check, or physical item β€” photograph that exact handoff moment
The moment the item changes hands β€” that's your shot. Get close. You want both faces AND the item clearly visible. Take multiple. This is often the most shareable image of the whole event.
πŸŽ₯ VideoRecord at least 20 seconds of any speech, remarks, or official presentation
Get as close as possible so the audio is clear β€” muffled sound makes clips unusable. Hold steady. Even if DIME doesn't use the full clip, they can pull a quote or use the footage in a Reel edit.
05 Before You Leave β€” Last 15 minutes
0/3 β–Ό
πŸ“·πŸŽ₯ BothGroup photo with the host and as many attendees as want to be in it
Find good light (near a window, under bright overhead lights, or in open shade if you're outside). Ask someone taller to hold the phone above the group. Take 4–5 shots β€” people always blink. Collect everyone's names and Instagram handles in the handles section above so DIME can tag them.
πŸŽ₯ VideoAsk the host to say a quick thank you or closing thought on camera β€” 15 to 30 seconds
Just say: "Hey, can you say one quick thing to close it out for the 'gram?" Vertical phone, get close to their face, let them speak. This is great for ending a Reel or posting as a standalone Story.
πŸ“· PhotoOne final photo of the space as people start to leave β€” the energy winding down
A quiet "after" shot gives DIME a way to close out a Story sequence. Doesn't need to be fancy β€” even a shot of leftover materials, an empty stage, or people saying goodbye works perfectly.
Notes for DIME
Anything DIME should know before posting: names and Instagram handles of people in photos, things to avoid posting, great quotes you heard, or just what happened today.

Now Upload Everything to the Google Drive Folder Above β€” Same Day
  • Put all your photos and videos into one shared album. Google Photos, iCloud shared album, or a Dropbox folder all work great.
  • Name the folder clearly: UA [Event Name] [Date] β€” e.g. "UA Lift for Life Penn State 03.22.26"
  • Send DIME the sharing link along with any notes from the box above β€” names, handles, context.
  • Send it the same day, even if the event ends late. DIME can post it first thing the next morning.
